The bathhouses are probably some of the nicest KOA bathhouses that I've ever seen - they are kept nice and clean.and most importantly - the workers are the best! Charlie - He is honestly the kindest KOA worker we have ever encountered (and we have stayed at multiple KOA locations.) He is so helpful - it really just makes your stay/experience that much better. Pigeon Forge is obviously a Tourist area, so it's pretty busy - surprisingly, it never felt overwhelmingly busy here. First, The Lazy River is awesome, our kids loved it! The playground is also top notch - what kid wouldn't have fun here? We don't have a dog, but even the dog park section looked cool. We last minute decided to stay at the Pigeon Forge KOA - We are traveling from North Carolina and had just left the Lake Hartwell KOA but decided to stop here on our way back home. We were already planning several more trips for next year but we will be going to another campground We enjoyed camping as a family but are sad to say we won’t be back to this campground. I guess I’m confused as to why you can have a 6 person tent and not larger in a spot that will easily hold a larger tent. If we needed to pay more for a larger site we would have. So a 6 person tent can be on an RV site but not a larger tent? It fit just fine in the spot we had and we didn’t have any trouble putting our stakes in the ground. But the man told me that I was told on the phone that we could put a 6 person tent on this site ( I know we have a large tent and wouldn’t purposefully bring a larger tent if I had been told that) anyways, I was told that our tent was too big and that the site we were on was for an RV. (The same tent we stayed in back in April and the same site) I know rules change so that’s fine. This time upon checking in we were told our tent was too big. Our only complaint for that trip was no hot water in the showers but we decided to stay again because overall we enjoyed our trip. We stayed here for the first time 6 months ago. They really enjoyed the pool and playground though. We were on Spring Break and kept our kids ( 13, 11, 8 ) busy with stuff outside the campground. If you're looking for a RV park without a lot of frills then this is the one for you. We determined spots 84-95 were among the most spacious spots not along the river and 7-19 were spacious along the river. We took that spot and were very happy with it. We were told that spot 92 would be open for the duration of our trip. Our RV just fit into the space and we could not get it level despite having automatic levelers and many Lego blocks. Beyond 19 the camp spots are quite short and drop quickly to the water. We originally chose a riverside camp spot (#28). The bathhouse included 6(?) bathroom/shower facilities and laundry facilities. It was a good size and included a splash pad. One even told us if it was the middle of the night not to hesitate to bang on their door. There were many of them and were stopped by to check in and offered to assist anytime. It served has home base while we explores the Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood and all that Pigeon Forge had to offer.Ĭamp staff was friendly, especially the Camp Hosts. We're hoping everybody that wants to get a site finds one.We stayed here April 16-21, 2022. That's the sign of the times, where there's more demand than what we have sites for. Take it from me, in the last few years it's gone from 5 weekends booked, to having 13 -14 weekends booked solid, or I would say, even weeks booked solid. ![]() Any long weekend begins to get a little dicey. I anticipate Corn and Apple will be a big one again this year. "Canada Day, by far, is going to be a big one. Thiessen noted, there are peak times that book up faster than others. ![]() And then, there's only been one person taking phone calls, so we're hoping to minimize that a little bit, by adding some extra staff on for Monday." I know in the past it's been an issue trying to get online and get those bookings as well. We'll have a couple of people answering phones so, we'll be able to get even more bookings in time. "8:30am, it goes live so you can do it online. Thiessen said they are excited for Monday and have taken steps to improve the process. ![]() Lake Minnewasta Campground Manager Brian Thiessen and staff are gearing up for Monday morning when the phones start to ring, and online bookings start to fill up for the upcoming camping season.
